MINUTES


1. The meeting was called to order during SURT Training

2. No agenda was put forward for adoption.

3. Minutes from the previous meeting were not put forward for adoption.

4. BCTF 2008-09 Action Plan

• Class Size and Composition
• Accountability / FSA
• Elections: Municipal and Provincial

5. FSA Action Plan

• Vote December 9 and 10, school-based secret ballot
• How do we get a strong ‘yes’ vote?
• Grade 4 and 7 teacher meeting tonight to present information package
• Staff reps will do an information presentation to staffs at a school based CRDTA meeting
• Staff reps p lease check e-mails and request staffs do the same
• General meeting December 3rd regarding FSA vote
• Neil will be e-mailing all staffs information on FSA

6. Class Size Composition

• Number of IEPs in classes without resources/help
• So many kids need to be tested for designation
• Designated vs. non-designated
• All designated IEP count when referring to Bill 33 class provisions
• Only some designated kids get funding --- 1701s
• Can we find out what the funding is for and designation/category
• Funding for designated students covers most aspects of student services/special needs programs
• More teachers would alleviate the number of IEPs in classes as well as class size numbers
• Approach district about 2-day grace period for consultation to occur for new students arriving after
September.

7. DPAC Meeting This Evening

• Concerns about "class provisions" report.
• Our opinion that District not following School Act per Bill 33
as per report to Board and DPAC and addressing IEPs
• Important to frame issue around concern for student needs
• Lack of resources to support students in need.

8. Teachers Teaching On Call

• Will now have Novell/Group Wise e-mail service
• Access to staff location on school district web site


9. School Concerns

Parent Interview Date
• discussion regarding date
• school board sets calendar
• staff reps will survey staffs to see if there is common ground for CRDTA to request a specific date

Information Out to Staffs regarding Staff Rep Meetings
• post minutes
• at staff meeting have CRDTA meeting at start or end to go over staff rep meeting information
• Neil will e-mail minutes of staff rep meetings to staff reps by the end of week for distripution

Korean Students
• $500 per student to the classroom
• some teachers not seeing this money
